This Might be a Problem

So maybe he won't be the Opening Day Catcher

I just read an article by Jason Beck on MLB.com that you can find here. Looks like top prospect Carlos Santana just ran into a setback. He will miss the rest of winter ball after going home after a tough bout with the flu. Beck reports, as does the Cleveland Plain Dealer, that he lost 9 pounds in a few days and when he got better was weak and couldn’t play. The team decided it was best for him to sit out the rest of the winter and get his health and strength back rather then risk him getting hurt. The plan is still for Santana to start off at AAA Columbus, there is no telling whether or not this will be a setback and push his arrival in Cleveland back any further. What it does mean however, as sad as it makes me, is that he will most likely not be on the opening day roster as I predicted he would be. It’s ok though, he’s healthy and will be up by mid-season probably.
