The Addition Of Antawn Jamison

It is being reported today that Forward Antawn Jamison is headed to Cleveland. The details of the trade which included 3 teams and 6 players are as follows:

Cavaliers give up: Zydrunas Illgauskas, a 2010 1st Round pick and draft rights to Emil Preldzic, All going to Washington.
Cavaliers got: Antawn Jamison from the Wizards and Sebastian Telfair from the Clippers.
And since nobody cares what the Clippers got/gave up we’re not going to talk about it.
(If you would like to know what the Clippers got, Full details here: Yahoo! Sports.)

What does this mean for the Cavs? Well it means a few things actually. first we will likely have a change in starers at the PF spot from JJ Hickson to Antawn Jamison. It will also mean a decrease in minutes to accommodate Jamisons needs in terms of playing time, averaging almost 40 minutes a game. He will get Z’s 20, Hickson will likely lose roughly 5 minutes a game (dropping him to 15MPG). That’s still only 25 MPG for Jamison, he will need atleast 30-35 to stay happy. Shaq plays 23 MPG and won’t lose any of those, and Varejao gets 30 a game. Plus with the return of Leon Powe immanent, my question is now to Mike Brown: How are you going to give all these guys their minutes and keep them all happy and productive? We will see how Mike Brown addresses that issue.

Another thing we will have to wait and see for is what are we going to do with Sebastian Telfair? How is he going to be used? At this point he mostly just seems to be an insurance policy/prospect pickup, being as he is only 24 he still has time to blossom into a useful player for the Cavs. At this point in time all we can do is speculate, and I am about done with that, a week or two from now once we get these guys into the Wine and Gold we will have a better idea of what the future holds.
